Beth had a childhood friend named Susie Adams, who changed her name to Margo when she started modelling.

As a lawyer, Beth represent Jim on several occasions and even seriously dated him, until she realized his emotional unavailability and lack of interest in a long-term relationship. Despite realizing that they would be better off 'friends', they shared a close and open romantic relationship well after dating.[1]
